Two further comments: 1. It is not easy to translate Polish when the diacritics (accents) are omitted.
2. The writer is very angry and vulgar. If this was addressed to you, tread carefully.

Poor attempt - ohne Gewähr  #857342
von Catesse (AU), 2016-10-30, 01:51  Spam?
As you have made an attempt, even if only by machine, I feel obliged to try, but the style of writing and the lack of accents and punctuation make it very difficult, and I cannot manage it in German. I shall try English and hope that either you understand or can find somebody who can explain it to you.
The background seems rather confusing.
1. So, Bob Brown, to the topic that after two years you write to me and Ilona that we can only have children but not look after them.
2. I have one child who lives with me permanently and not with some stranger of a father who does not pay support for her
3. while you and (Mouse – name?) have three children on the way (?) by different women and do not look after them or pay for them.
4. So next time think about what you are writing you bastard – son of a bitch – regards Justyna
"Kurwa" literally means "prostitute", but it is a vulgar term of abuse that can be interpreted in many ways.
Absolutely no guarantee that this translation is technically accurate, but it conveys the general idea.

Does anybody know what a "przewodnik policja" was in the 1920s and what his duties were? Internet searches turn up only police search dogs and training manuals, but this definitely referred to a person, namely a witness at my husband's baptism.

Kabek » antworten
von Catesse (AU), Last modified: 2016-09-05, 14:08  Spam?
Two queries: First: what is a "kabek"? It appears to be some sort of small weapon. At first I thought it might be slang for "karabin", but it is not a good fit.
Czułem, że ramię zaczyna mi drętwieć, a w prawym boku robi mi się ciepło. Chwyciłem za pas mój kabek i zacząłem czołgać się do tyłu.
I don't need the whole piece - it is just for context. I need only "kabek".
Second: "i już mnie nie było." "I lost consciousness" would fit, but I cannot verify this. (And here is "kabek" again.)
Staruszka chwyciła czarną chustkę, którą miała na głowie i zrobiła mi temblak na rękę. Krzyknąłem: - Bóg zapłać! – i już mnie nie było. Wpadłem na podwórko, w lewej ręce kabek.
Any help would be appreciated. This writer uses a lot of colloquialisms that are not in dictionaries. Some are easily guessed, but I am unsure of these.

Vielen Dank. Your second version does fit better. He climbed over a fence and landed in a ditch, and he did not mention regaining consciousness. It did seem a bit extreme that an experienced soldier in battle would faint from a flesh wound in the arm, although he did drop the "erkaem" that he was firing.

Would prefer translation into English, but EN-PL site is moribund and German will do.
Akta miasta Kielc z lat 1795-1796
-sygn. arch.2424-w spisie wyborców do Sejmu z 1935 roku, na str. 6, pod poz. 266 wpisano: JP, zam. na ul. Nowy Świat 15, ur. 27.12.1885 roku, pod. poz. 267-MP, ur.24.12.1889.(zal.2).
My attempt:
Archives of the town of Kielce for the years 1795-1796
(-sygn.? arch.) Archival registration number 2424-in the list of voters for the Sejm of 1935, (na stronie?) on p. 6, (pod pozycja?) under number/at position 266 entered: JP, (zamieszkaj? na ulicy) living at 15 Nowy Świat Street, (urodzony) born. 27.12.1885, (pod pozycja) 267-MP, (urodzona) born 24.12.1889. (zal.?? 2).
General query: what is an electoral enrolment for 1935 doing in records relating to 1795-96? Strange system.
Help to explain the gaps and doubtful translations would be greatly appreciated.

In writing, usually.
In colloquial speech, not always, especially in  short questions. The tone of voice shows that it is a question.
- Widzisz?
- Tak, widzę.

I didn't expect such a fast answer -- it was only 4 days ... So I don't understand the "Sorry to have taken so long to answer this". ;)

Is "Widzisz?" "Merkst du es?" in German? (Sorry, I understand almost no Polish, except of a very few structures which are the same (or at least similar) as in Esperanto.)

I wish you to get well soon!

Ja, ich sehe.
"Tak" would not be entirely adequate as an answer, although it is not incorrect.
My Polish is not very good. For the past four years or so, I have been making a serious effort to learn Polish in order to read books relating to my husband's wartime service, so that I can reconstruct a narrative in English for our children. I have reached the stage of being able to read, very slowly, a fair proportion of what I need, as the military vocabulary is repetitive. Often it is a case of simply getting the general idea of what is written, not of making an accurate translation.
However, I cannot write Polish, except at a very elementary level, and my oral Polish extends only to about: Welcome. Come in. Take a seat. Would you like tea / coffee / beer?
Next week will be my 85th birthday, so "getting well" is not very likely to happen. A bit better, perhaps, I hope. I am not sure how much longer I shall be able to continue with dict. And the situation on EN-PL is very disheartening. Only one entry verified this year, I think.

I hadn't thought that you were more than half a century older than me. No one in my family who is older than 60/70 uses computers (because they "do not need them at all") except one of my grandfathers (but he uses it fortunately only as a kind of typewriter and doesn't move in the Internet -- he makes already enough chaos there with only typing), so I appreciate it much if elderly people can (and want to) handle it. :) And seen from your contributions to dict, you are mental very fit -- if you had claimed you were only 50, I would have believed it. :)

(Please excuse my English -- it's getting worse and worse from day to day if I don't use it.)

Your English, to judge by what I have seen of it, is brilliant. (N.B. "mentally fit".)
It is very difficult to exist here without access to a computer. Banking. Dividend notifications. Electricity accounts. The government and private companies want to do everything online. Yesterday was census day. The government was encouraging people to fill out their returns online. I refused and sent in a paper copy. Today just about everyone seems surprised by what happened inevitably. Three separate groups of hackers attacked the site, and it collapsed. Now somebody has to sort out the mess.

Thanks, but you don't know how many words I have to look up to express myself in any way ...
I currently use an online Esperanto course which is only available in English and every now and then I despair even of the English basic vocabulary -- it's really "nice" if there is only a certain time in which one should translate a sentence and one has to look up some German-English translations first ...

Thank you. You have sorted out "minał" and "stał", and that "kryzys ten" is actually "ten kryzys".  (I shall have to remember to watch out for this quirk.) And, on going back to the smudged original I find that it could be either "szal" or "stał". Both z and t are both there, one typed over the other, but the z is clearer. On a Polish typewriter, z and t are neighbours, so this was a typist's error, not corrected on the carbon copy of which I have a photostat.
It does not matter to me whether the German is grammatical or not. With most of the stuff that I am working on now, it is sufficient for me to have a general idea of the meaning, but this is from a critical letter that I need in English, correct and precise, for publication.
Probably, when I have collated the sensitive and complicated pieces that I need in precise translation, I shall have to hire a professional. I cannot afford to compromise my reputation by making a blunder in this respect, and my poor knowledge of Polish is my vulnerable point.

Since it is not possible to contact darioferraro or AngelikaAngi privately, and because a general principle is involved, I must post this on form.
Re: http://depl.contribute.dict.cc/?action=edit&id=1072644
1. koszykarz = Basketballspieler is already entered, so this is a duplicate.
2. koszykarz = Korbmacher is confirmed in pons if you would just read beyond the first line.
3. The tag "zawód" shows that it is a tradesman. not a sport player.
4. Guidelines say that, if the original entry is correct, it must be confirmed, and this entry is 100% correct.
Please change or revoke the incorrect votes.
